THE FILM

POST HUMAN: Survival Guide — Festival Cut

A 30-minute observational film prepared for international festival submission.

The film follows one filmmaker arriving broken to a volcanic island, searching for a new way to live. What begins as an act of trust becomes a study in collapse — and unexpected repair.

No narration. No interviews. No distance.

The festival cut functions as a complete standalone work and as the entry point for the long-form series.

Production partner inquiries: contact@levbourliot.com

THE SERIES

POST HUMAN is an immersive observational documentary exploring how people rebuild identity, structure, and meaning after rupture.

Filmed through immersive participation rather than interviews or narration, the series observes daily labor, conflict, humor, and collaboration as they naturally unfold. The camera remains close and intentionally imperfect, lowering performance and allowing lived behavior to surface.

The project balances serious themes with moments of unintentional comedy that emerge from proximity, misunderstanding, and cultural friction between the filmmaker and the environments he enters.

It is serious in subject.
Human in tone.
Often unintentionally funny.

THE METHOD

POST HUMAN follows an immersive observational approach rooted in traditions of cinéma vérité and participatory documentary.

There are no formal interviews and no imposed narration. The series unfolds through lived interaction, allowing conversations, misunderstandings, and moments of adaptation to emerge naturally within the environments being documented.

The filmmaker enters these spaces not as an expert, but as someone learning how to navigate unfamiliar systems of daily life. This position of curiosity and vulnerability becomes part of the process itself.

The aesthetic intentionally resists polished distance. The camera remains close and imperfect on purpose. This rawness lowers performance and allows real behavior to surface more naturally.

Rather than staging scenes or directing outcomes, the project observes daily labor, shared responsibility, conflict, and collaboration as they unfold.

Editing is approached as a reflective phase with professional editorial input and outside consultation to ensure responsible framing and thoughtful representation of the people and environments being documented.
